Black Joins Ohio Soybean Council Staff

Worthington, OH - The Ohio Soybean Council (OSC) recently welcomed a new staff member, Rocky Black, who will serve as Director of Bioproduct Utilization and Outreach.

Black will be responsible for the promotion and utilization of soy biobased products in a continued effort to position Ohio as a world leader in soybean based bioproduct technology, as well as develop a program to work with the government procurement process and private sector companies. He will also work closely with the Ohio Bioproducts Innovation Center and other industry and economic development partners to educate and communicate the opportunities for soy-based businesses to locate in Ohio.

Most recently, Black held the position of Senior Director of Policy and Political Affairs for the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF). He served as the chief lobbyist and primary staff liaison with the Governor's office and state agencies, as well as supervised OFBF's political action program.

Black is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, and studied briefly at Yale Divinity School. He currently resides in Grove City with his family.

Headquartered in Worthington, the Ohio Soybean Council is governed by a 17-member volunteer farmer board, which directs the Soybean Promotion and Research Program. The program's primary goal is to improve soybean profitability by targeting research and development projects through the investment of farmer-contributed funds.
