OSA Elects New Officers

OhioSoybean Association Elects New Officers

 

Columbus, OHThe Ohio Soybean Association (OSA) Board of Trustees elected officers for 2007-08 during the June meeting. These executive committee positions include the offices of president, chairman, vice-president, treasurer, and secretary. Those elected to these positions are responsible for the implementation of board policies and procedures, as well as carrying out the roles for their respective office.

Mark Watkins, a soybean and livestock producer from Hardin County was elected as the new OSA president. He previously served on the executive committee as OSA vice-president and membership chairman for two terms. Watkins operates Watkins Farm with his brother near Kenton, Ohio. In addition to his work with OSA, he is a past Hardin County Farm Bureau president, member of the Ohio Pork Producers Council, and the Ohio Corn Growers Association.

Jeff Sollars of Fayette County was elected chairman. He is the outgoing OSA president and served at that position for two terms. Sollars produces soybeans and other crops on Sollars Farms with his family. Along with his work with OSA, he is also a member of the Ohio Farm Bureau and Ohio Corn Growers Association.

Darke County soybean farmer, Jeff Wuebker was elected vice-president after serving as treasurer for two terms. He is the co-owner/operator of Wuebker Farms, LLC near Versailles, Ohio and is a certified crop consultant. In addition to producing soybeans, Wuebker also manages a sow, weanling pig and steer operation. He is actively involved in local agriculture and other community organizations.

The Board of Trustees elected Bret Davis of Delaware County as treasurer. He is a producer of soybeans, corn, wheat and hay. Not only is Davis active with OSA, he has previously served as the president of the Delaware County Farm Bureau and Farm Service Agency.

Re-elected for his second term, Dave Dotterer will serve as secretary. Dotterer produces soybeans, corn, wheat and hay in Wayne County. He is active as a Wayne County Farm Bureau member and past president of that organization, as well as an Ohio No-Till Council board member.

Rob Joslin, a Shelby County soybean farmer and outgoing OSA chairman, was elected to another term as the OSA representative on the American Soybean Association (ASA) board of directors, where he currently serves on the executive committee as a vice-president. Joslin has been very active in OSA, and is also a member of Ohio Corn Growers Association, Ohio Wheat Growers Association, and the Ohio Pork Producers Council.

The Ohio Soybean Association is governed by a 24-member volunteer farmer board dedicated to education and promotion, as well as to uniting producer interest through support of legislative activities beneficial to the Ohio soybean industry.
