Ohio Soybean Council Elects New Leadership

OhioSoybean Council Elects New Leadership

COLUMBUS, OH During the recent board meeting of the Ohio Soybean Council (OSC) officer elections were held and the board of trustees elected Dan Corcoran, soybean farmer from Pike County, as the new chairman. Corcoran previously served as vice chairman.

Second in command for OSC is Keith Kemp, elected as vice chairman. Kemp is a soybean farmer and livestock producer from Preble County where he resides near West Manchester. He previously served as treasurer.

Allen Armstrong, soybean farmer from Clark County has served as secretary for the past two years and was elected treasurer. Armstrong also represents Ohio at the national level as secretary for the World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH).

New to the executive committee is Jan Layman, soybean farmer from Hardin County who will serve as secretary. Layman also represents OSC as a board member for the National Biodiesel Board.

"I am extremely excited to represent Ohio's soybean farmers as chairman and I am looking forward to the challenges in leading the board of trustees," says Corcoran. I am confident the volunteer farmer board will continue to carry out our responsibilities in helping to maximize investments of the soybean checkoff."

Headquartered in Columbus, the Ohio Soybean Council is governed by an 18-member volunteer farmer board, which directs the Soybean Promotion and Research Program. The program's primary goal is to improve soybean profitability by targeting research and development projects through the investment of farmer-contributed funds.
