Shelby County Soybean Farmer Elected to National Leadership Position

WashingtonD.C. Shelby County soybean farmer and Ohio Soybean Association (OSA) Chairman, Rob Joslin, was elected yesterday to serve on the executive committee of the American Soybean Association (ASA) as vice president. The election took place during the ASA board of directors meeting in Washington D.C. and Joslin will share the title of vice president with three other farmer-leaders from across the nation.

Joslin will also join other members of the executive committee from numerous soybean producing states that will serve the positions of president, chairman, first vice president, secretary and treasurer. Additionally, he was selected to serve as chairman of the Membership and Corporate Relations Committee.

"I am honored to serve as vice president of the American Soybean Association," says Joslin. "I have enjoyed serving as a board member of ASA and feel privileged to have my peers elect me to this position. I look forward to this new challenge and am proud to work at the grassroots level on behalf of U.S. soybean farmers."

For the past 2 years, Joslin has served as a board member of ASA and has been a member of the Ohio Soybean Association board of trustees since 1998. At home, he and his wife Ellen operate the family farm, W.R. Joslin & Son, Inc, near Sidney. He is a member of OSA, Ohio Corn Growers Association, Ohio Wheat Growers Association, Ohio Pork Producers Council and Ohio Farm Bureau Federation.

"Rob is well deserving of this position and has gained a tremendous amount of experience at the state level having served as vice president of membership, president and currently chairman," says John Lumpe, OSA executive director. "I am confident he will use these skills and knowledge at the national level and dedicate himself to serving the legislative interests of U.S. soybean farmers."

As the national organization for OSA and other state affiliates, ASA serves as a collective legislative voice, advocating at the federal level for more than 25,000 soybean farmers. A primary focus of ASA is policy development and membership.

The Ohio Soybean Association is governed by a 23-member volunteer farmer board dedicated to education and promotion, as well as to uniting producer interest through support of legislative activities beneficial to the Ohio soybean industry.
