Ohio to Host Soybean Checkoff Partner Tour

Columbus, OH Communicating the importance of the soybean checkoff to Ohio farmers is accomplished through the work of the Ohio Soybean Council (OSC) and now OSC has an opportunity to take its message nationwide. Ohio has been selected to serve as the host state for the Soybean Checkoff Partner Tour which is coordinated and funded by the United Soybean Board (USB).

The three day tour of Ohio agriculture will take place this summer and gives OSC farmers leaders the opportunity to serve as hosts to other soybean farmers from across the nation and educate them on Ohio's soybean checkoff priorities. Areas of focus include the importance of animal agriculture, soy biodiesel and soybean composition. The group will travel around the state visiting businesses and farms specific to these focus areas as well as attend farmer meetings.

"We are looking forward to the opportunity to show other soybean farmers what Ohio has to offer," says John Lumpe, OSC Executive Director. "This tour will give our state farmer leaders the opportunity to enhance relationships with national farmer leaders as well as ensuring competitiveness for soybean farmers both here in Ohio and nationwide."

Headquartered in Columbus, the Ohio Soybean Council is governed by a 17-member volunteer farmer board, which directs the Soybean Promotion and Research Program. The program's primary goal is to improve soybean profitability by targeting research and development projects through the investment of farmer-contributed funds.
