Ohio Soybean Association Elects New Group of Farmer Leaders

COLUMBUS, OH - The Ohio Soybean Association (OSA) recently elected new officers during the June board meeting. This group of dedicated farmer leaders will assume their new responsibilities in September.
Jeff Sollars, Fayette County soybean farmer, will serve as President. Sollars most recently served as the Vice President of membership and for the past two years has been the top American Soybean Association's (ASA) volunteer recruiter.
"I look forward to assuming the president's position," said Sollars. "I am eager to work with a new executive committee and am confident in their abilities to serve the legislative needs of our organization."
Formerly the Vice President of Programs, Mark Watkins was elected to serve as the Vice President of Membership and will be responsible for the 2005-2006 membership campaign. Watkins, a soybean farmer from Hardin County will also serve as OSA's representative to the American Soybean Association (ASA). This position was previously held by Tony Anderson who during his tenure served one year as President of the American Soybean Association.
Joe Sheaffer, Wyandot County soybean farmer will serve as Vice President of Programs and will oversee OSA's corporate relations activities. Elected to serve as treasurer is Jeff Wuebker, Darke County soybean farmer and Sam Shuey, Clark County soybean farmer will serve as secretary.
Outgoing president, Rob Jolsin, will assume the role as chairman and will continue to serve as an ASA board member along with Joe Steiner, Warren County soybean farmer who also serves on the ASA board.
"The OSA board elected a capable and exciting group of officers," said Joslin. "As president, I have had the opportunity to meet many of Ohio's soybean farmers, if only I could have met them all. I hope to continue the working relationships I developed over the past two years and will certainly miss the many dedicated friends and leaders who left our board."
The Ohio Soybean Association is governed by a 22-member volunteer farmer board dedicated to education and promotion, as well as to uniting producer interest through support of legislative activities beneficial to the Ohio soybean industry.
