Ohio Soybean Association's Membership Campaign In Full Swing

COLUMBUS, OH The 2005 membership campaign of the Ohio Soybean Association (OSA) is underway. With membership support, OSA continues to work everyday to provide leadership for Ohio's soybean producers. OSA promotes effective policies and legislation to ensure a growing and profitable soybean industry for Ohio producers. But in order to maintain its integrity as a strong and effective grassroots organization, OSA needs help in securing membership growth by recruiting new members.

The cost of a three-year membership is $195 and $75 for a one-year membership. The following is a list of incentives for a three-year membership, the incentives denoted with an asterisk are the incentives for a one-year membership. Coupon worth $195 towards the purchase of a minimum of a 100 bags of soybean seed from one of the following companies - Vigoro, LG Seeds, Seed Consultants, Crows, Asgrow / Dekalb, Becks, Croplan Genetics, Rupp, AgVenture, Garst, Settlemeyer Rebate coupon for $.05/gallon, up to 2,000 gallons of soy biodiesel Cargill Pacer Contract coupon one cent off service fees up to 5,000 bushels $25.00 coupon towards the purchase of crop protection products Tractor Supply Center discount 10% off one purchase JD Equipment 15% off purchase of Carhartt clothing Reduced rate for 2006 Commodity Classic Ohio's Country Journal subscription 10 issues of Soybean Digest 4 issues of Ohio Soybean Review Magazine 9 issues of Ohio Leader Letter

In October, President George W. Bush signed into law the American JOBS Creation Act of 2004, which included the first ever biodiesel tax incentive, one of the greatest legislative accomplishments for the Ohio and American Soybean Associations. This tax incentive went into effect on January 1, 2005. But this defining moment for the future growth of soy biodiesel that is expected to boost soybean prices by at least $.10 per bushel could not have been possible without membership support. This is just one example of how an OSA membership truly benefits soybean producers by increasing demand and strengthening profitability.

"The biodiesel tax incentive could add an average of another $2,000 to the bottom line of soybean farmers growing 500 acres of soybeans," said Jeff Sollars, OSA vice president of membership and Fayette County soybean producer. "But we need membership growth to support legislative efforts that will ensure the tax incentive is extended beyond its scheduled two years."

Join today and start enjoying the benefits of an Ohio Soybean Association membership. For those members who's memberships did not expire on January 1, 2005, you can still take advantage of the great incentives by extending your membership for another three years. Call 1-888-SOYOHIO to join.

The Ohio Soybean Association is governed by a 22-member volunteer farmer board dedicated to education and promotion, as well as to uniting producer interest through support of legislative activities beneficial to the Ohio soybean industry.
