FT Firefighter/Paramedic

Washington Township (Montgomery County)

Applicant must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Associate degree in Fire Science and one year or more of experience in firefighting and/or paramedic work environment is preferred. At the time of application, applicants must possess and provide copies of the following required current certifications:

(1) Firefighter II – State of Ohio,
(2) EMT- Paramedic – State of Ohio,
(3) Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider,
(4) Hazardous Materials Operation,
(5) Valid American Heart CPR Card and
(6) NIMS ICS-100 and IS-700 training certificates.

Ohio Fire, EMS and/or CPR Instructor certificates are preferred. Current Washington Township Fire Department employees are not required to provide copies of certifications currently on file, but must complete all paperwork.

The position of Firefighter must successfully complete the Montgomery County protocol testing within two months of hire; become a Driver/Operator and a Squad Leader with Washington Township Fire Department within the first six months of employment, and a qualified Ohio Fire Safety Inspector within one year of hire.

Must have a CPAT certificate or passed the Washington Township physical agility test from Kettering Sports Medicine dated 8/1/15 or newer and must be received by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, July 20, 2016 in order to be considered. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and remain insurable under the Township’s vehicle insurance plan.

Application materials must contain a cover letter, resume, completed application (with copies of all documentation), completed job experience questionnaire with all requested documentation and a signed Authorization and Disclosure of Consumer Report. Include a full copy of any military discharge paperwork.

OPEN UNTIL FILLED INCOMPLETE APPLICATION SUBMITTALS WILL NOT BE CALLED OR CONSIDERED.

Selection process includes: a review of cover letter, resume and questionnaire. May include written/video tests, assessment centers, oral board, additional interviews and polygraphs. Candidate will be required to complete a criminal background check, and a driver’s license and personal background investigation. Appointment procedure will be based on the number of qualified candidates. (Fire Chief may waive certain requirements to ensure an adequate candidate pool.)
