Fire Captain / Paramedic

The Clearcreek Fire District is a progressive and growing fire protection district in Southwest Ohio, located between Dayton and Cincinnati. The District is accepting applications for an eligibility list for the position of Fire Captain / Paramedic. This position will work a 40 hour or 24/48 schedule (53 hour work week) as assigned. This person will either lead as a Shift Commander or be assigned to lead a Division within the Fire District such as Training, Planning or EMS.

The Clearcreek Fire District is looking for an individual who has a positive attitude, is a sincere team player, possesses leadership qualities, effective communication and interpersonal skills, and who can accept and handle significant levels of responsibilities. Experience in leadership, public relations, planning, organizing, standards, and current Fire/EMS procedures are required.

All applicants are subject to the selection process. To be considered, applicant shall have a valid Ohio driver’s license and be a current career Fire Lieutenant (or higher) having seven (7) years of career fire experience including not less than two (2) years progressive supervisory experience. An Associate’s Degree in Fire / EMS Science or a related field is required, Bachelor’s Degree is preferred. Applicant is required to have Ohio Paramedic, Level II Firefighter, Fire Safety Inspector, and NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800 certifications. Fire Officer I and II is required, Fire Officer III is desired. Successful candidates will be required to obtain specialized training such as Fire and/or EMS Instructor, the ability to operate under the Greater Miami Valley EMS Protocol as a Paramedic, and qualification to operate all CCFD apparatus within one year (365 days) of appointment. Successful candidates will be required to complete the Ohio Fire Executive (OFE) or Executive Fire Officer (EFO) course as well as Fire Officer III. PALS, ACLS, and CPR Instructor are also preferred. Starting salary is $69,169.00 a year plus excellent benefits. Requirements may be waived at the sole discretion of the Fire Chief to assure an adequate candidate pool.

Applicants may be subject to written testing, physical agility test, oral interview(s), assessment center, psychological evaluation, polygraph examination, in conjunction with an extensive personal history evaluation and medical examination to include drug testing. Several cuts may occur during the process, you will be advised if you are continuing in each step. Dates for each step of the process will be announced as we progress.
