Details 09/02/2010Executive DirectorNorth Carolina Beer & Wine Wholesalers AssociationThe North Carolina Beer & Wine Wholesalers Association is seeking applications to fill a vacancy for its Executive Director position. The Executive Director is the chief executive of the Association and is responsible for the overall administration and management of the organization. He/she represents the Association before the North Carolina General Assembly, North Carolina ABC Commission and other regulatory agencies. Duties of the Executive Director include but are not limited to serving as chief lobbyist; monitoring legislation and other matters affecting the Association; serving as the primary contact to the General Assembly, ABC Commission and other regulators and industry members; designing and implementing a comprehensive governmental affairs strategy; managing activities of contract lobbyists; working with other Association professionals to keep members informed of legislation and other matters affecting the Association; and other related duties as directed by the Board of Directors.
Candidates should have significant lobbying/governmental affairs experience, preferably in North Carolina, or related experience in the beverage alcohol industry. The Executive Director position requires excellent organization and communication skills, a commitment to ethics and professionalism, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.
The Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors through its Chairperson. He/she will also be responsible for supervising one or more Association professionals, which will include at least one other lobbyist. The Executive Director will work closely with other Association professionals to plan membership meetings, fundraisers and other events. However, the Executive Director’s focus will primarily be lobbying/governmental affairs. Managing and coordinating internal membership activities will be the primary responsibility of other Association professionals.
NCBWWA is a non-profit trade organization consisting of over 30 beer and wine wholesalers from all parts of the state. The Association is the primary trade organization of beer and wine distributors in North Carolina.
