by Tammy Ditzel
The Maryland Institute for Employment and Training Professionals (MIETP) provides staff development and networking opportunities for professionals in the workforce development field. Based in Columbia, Maryland, MIETP serves staff primarily from organizations such as local Workforce Investment Areas, the Employment Service, the Family Investment Program and various non-profits which help move people into the workforce. MIETP is proud to be one of the leaders in professional development throughout the state of Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region.
Plenty of excitement is always brewing at the institute, and the following are just a glimpse of the ongoing professional development opportunities we offer:
Professional Certification Programs
Federal Job Search Instructor Certification – the only one of it’s kind in the US - presented by author and Master Trainer Kathryn Troutman!
Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) Certification

We also offer general training opportunities to enhance your current level of skills - such as counseling and case management, assessment, leadership, facilitation, and more! Two of our popular sessions in dealing with change and leadership are "Who Moved My Cheese?" and "FISH! 4 Steps to Re-Energizing Your Workforce". Finally, MIETP also offers customized and on-site training. If you can't come to us, we'll come to you!
