State CDAs Leadership Training
Conference Follow-up
State Career Development Association Leaders gathered on Wednesday June 30, 2010 in San Francisco at the NCDA conference. During this two-hour session, participants gained valuable information on a variety of topics with the purpose of aiding and improving the efforts of state associations. The new Leadership Handbook will be posted online as soon as the State Leaders submit the State Division Leadership Report.

Charles Lehman discussed financial information. It was suggested that NCDA collect state dues information and share for the purposes of comparison. States that have questions about CEUs can contact Bobbi Carter at NCDA headquarters: bcarter@ncda.org

Leadership Academy participants conducted a Membership Study (Stephanie Burns), explored Leadership (Cori Schaff), expanded Statewide Communications (Joyce Donohue) and promoted the Mentoring Program (Michelle Carroll). A summary can be found online, under Leadership Academy

NCDA President and President-elect open to new ideas. Announcement of upcoming Webinars and a new Gallup Survey.

Regional Trustees met in small groups to allow for topical discussions.
A big welcome to Missouri, a new chartered state this year, and congratulations to El-Namaa as an NCDA International Affiliate located in Egypt/MENA Region. "El-Namaa is an Egyptian developmental non-governmental organization with the mission of providing Egyptian people with the means to analyze and better understand their latent abilities and skills and unleash their potential."

A discussion was started regarding the pros/cons of a state career development association being a part of the state counseling association. Would someone volunteer to write an article about this? Let me know -- webeditor@ncda.org
