2010 NCDA Awards Nominations Now Open
The NCDA Awards Committee announces the start of the nomination process for the 2010 NCDA Outstanding Career Practitioner, Merit, and Legislative Awards. The Awards will be presented at the 2010 NCDA Conference in San Francisco in July.
Do you have a colleague who has gone to great lengths to provide career counseling to individuals in your state, who has developed innovative programs to enhance career development, who has influenced legislation, or who has been a leader in your state or in NCDA? Please nominate that person to receive an NCDA award! Any NCDA member may submit a nomination. Current NCDA board members are ineligible during their term in office. The NCDA Awards Committee will use the following criteria to select recipients of each award.
NCDA Outstanding Career Practitioner Award Selection Criteria (four may be awarded)
To recognize practicing career counselors, consultants, or teachers for outstanding performance in day-to-day service for people, each of the following areas will be rated:
Years of service (at least eight years) in direct work with people in regards to career development in education, business and industry, and/or private practice; quality of service as indicated by innovative programs, recognition by local organizations, publications, etc; service to the profession as indicated by participation and leadership in professional associations at the local, state, and/or national levels.
NCDA Merit Award Selection Criteria (three may be awarded)
To recognize significant contributions to the field of career development, each of the following areas will be rated:
Education and mentoring of career counseling students; development of, or leadership in, exemplary career programs; conduct significant research in the field; advocacy efforts to inform and persuade policy makers about career development.
NCDA Legislative Award (only one is awarded)
To recognize an individual who has made a significant impact on policy or legislation related to the career development profession or to its recipients at the local, state or national level, each of the following areas will be rated:
The nature of the work involved; significance of the legislative action; relevance of the legislation to the profession.
Nomination Process
The nomination packet is not to exceed a total of 10 one-sided pages and must be received by April 15, 2010. To nominate a colleague, submit a letter of nomination, the nominee's resume or vita (short version), and any supporting documents or additional letters that indicate how the nominee meets the award criteria. In preparing letters, carefully address the selection criteria for the specific award.
