Frequently Asked Questions
Enhancing Value for NAHAD Members
NAHAD’s Standards Committee has continued to evolve the Hose Assembly Guidelines program and the opportunities available for committed members to gain valuable marketing and recognition.
NAHAD's Hose Safety Institute has been designed to better deliver the value we’ve been building, providing members with a much more marketable asset; it represents a cleaner, more focused value proposition for NAHAD members.
Most importantly, the Hose Safety Institute Advisory Council - comprised of respected end-users, industry experts, related testing and/or standards groups, and other key players focused on hose safety in the industry - will provide industry-wide credibility and legitimacy to NAHAD’s Hose Guidelines program. Leveraging that strength will provide a powerful marketing message for Institute members. The Council also provides an excellent forum for Distribution, Manufacturing, end-users and related organizations to explore and drive hose assembly safety, quality and reliability.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What do I need to do as a former 'NAHAD Listed Member' to become a Hose Safety Institute Member?
A: The traditional renewal process for the Listed Member program converted to the Hose Safety Institute membership renewal process beginning July 1, 2011. You should have received all reminders, renewal forms, etc.; if not, contact NAHAD directly.
Q: May I still use my NAHAD Listed Member logo on company literature, etc.?
A: Yes, although it will be phased out over the next two years. The new Hose Safety Institute Member logo is now available for all Institute members.
Q: Are my NAHAD Hose Assembly Guidelines exam certificates still valid?
A: Yes – there are no changes to the exam program at this time, although the new Hose Safety Institute Member logo is now being used on all new certificates. As updates are made to the Hose Assembly Guidelines materials, any resultant changes to the exams will be announced, but that process would proceed regardless of this transition to the Hose Safety Institute
Q: Will I get new exam certificates noting Hose Safety Institute instead of the Listed Member program?
A: Yes; updated certificates using the new Institute logo have been sent to all certificate holders.
Q: Will Hose Safety Institute Membership cost more than membership in the Listed Member program?
A: No – the same annual fee of $300 per location will be applied, renewable each July.
Q: Will my company receive a new Membership Certificate reflecting the Institute?
A: Yes – new certificates, logos, and related marketing materials will be provided as part of your renewal package effective July 2011.
Q: May non-NAHAD companies join the Institute?
A: Yes and no – non-NAHAD companies may be invited to participate as members of the Advisory Council. Institute Membership is only available to NAHAD members who agree to comply with the Institute Membership requirements.
Q: What happens to my Listed Member profile page on HoseGuidelines.com ?
A: The new www.NAHAD.org and www.Hose Safety Institute.org site includes a profile page for each NAHAD Institute Member location, highlighted through the ‘Find an Institute Member’ feature on the site. With the involvement of the new Advisory Council, this website should gain additional visibility and credibility, significantly enhancing your marketing potential.
Q: Will there still be an audit process for members?
A: No, the Institute Membership Application and Annual Renewal forms will include a list of requirements that supersede the audit requirements.
