As a founding member of the Association Education Alliance (AEA - now includes 45 Distribution Trade Associations), ISD offers an annual series of two-day distribution sales seminars and quarterly  90-minute webinars, addressing a variety of business, financial, human resource, communications and leadership management  topics.

ISD Members can now take advantage of new quarterly training and educational online seminars in 2011. Sealing Your Success e-Seminars focus on technical topics, leveraging expertise from our Associate members and others to bring you the latest developments in sealing technology, back to basics sessions on manufacturing or fabrication processes, or other technical topics you’d like to see – all designed to support the success of you and your employees.

Each e-Seminar lasts 45 - 60 minutes and includes opportunities for Q&A. Sessions are scheduled at mid-day to allow participants to conduct lunch-time training sessions. Over 80 ISD members participated in the first two sessions (described below). April 1, 2011: "Camprofile Technology – Why use Camprofile Gaskets and Where" 

Camprofile technology is becoming the future of metal gasket sealing solutions for many fixed equipment and piping applications.  This topic will focus on what Camprofile gaskets are, why they are used and how they are applied. With tighter sealing requirements due to government regulated demands and new industry standards; Lee Melvin, Senior Sealing Engineer for Leader Global Technologies will present on how to meet those needs.  Lee has 20 years in the industry with both product and equipment application expertise. This practical approach to the technology behind Bolted Joint Reliability will be of significant value to all Fluid Sealing Sales and Marketing professionals.  

May 13, 2011: "Reformulating Rubber Manufacturing Under Highly Competitive and Uncertain Times."

This topic will deal with how various compounds of rubber sheet are made, were they are commonly recommended for use, and identifying failure modes when improperly applied. The presenter, Paul Smith, has been involved with industrial rubber use for more than 55 years as a shop converter and fabricator, salesman for BF Goodrich Industrial Products, and associated with distribution marketing at Fabricon, Beltservice and Apache Hose and Belting before joining American-Biltrite in 2001. He is now the Manager of Business Development and a current Board Member of ISD. 

January 13, 2012: "Introduction to Elastometric Expansion Joints"

Topics included are expansion joint design/construction, the various styles of expansion joints and their specific uses, along with installation and troubleshooting. No matter the industries you serve, this class will help you understand the basic functions of an expansion joint.  It's always good to start off the new year with a return to the basics!
