Tips for Washington D.C. Travel
Try Flying into BWI (Baltimore)
Southwest has a hub at the Baltimore airport. From there, a traveler can take a 30 minute AMTRAK to Union Station in DC, which is about 1 ½ blocks from the Phoenix Park Hotel.
After landing at BWI and retrieving your luggage, proceed to the AMTRAK/ MARK shuttle stops which are located on the lower level terminal roadway in between door numbers 1 & 2, 8 & 9, 14 & 15, and 17 & 18. Shuttle buses from the BWI Marshall terminal building to the rail station operate every 12 min. The bus will stop adjacent to the rail station garage, directly in front of the rail station. Signs should point you in the proper direction, but you will have to go up some steps and across a walkway to the Southbound tracks. The ride should take approximately 30 minutes.
Tips for Flying into Dulles (IAD)
HARDI recommends taking the SuperShuttle for getting to the hotel from Dulles, an alternative would be to take the Metro downtown.
Connecting to the Metrorail system from Dulles Airport
Purchase a ticket (one-way or round-trip) at the Washington Flyer Coach ticket counter located at Arrivals Door #4 in the Main Terminal. Travelers will also board the Coach from this location. The buses depart approximately every 30 minutes, but be sure to listen for announcements for exact bus departure times. Click here for schedule and ticket prices. You may purchase a Metrorail fare card inside the train station at the West Falls Church Metro stop where you will board the train.
