ECA - 2012 Convention - Call for Papers - Organizational Communication Interest Group

2012 CALL FOR PAPERS
103rd ANNUAL MEETING of the EASTERN COMMUNICATION ASSOCIATION
APRIL 26-29, 2012

“Transitions”
The Organizational Communication Interest Group is seeking submissions for ECA's 103rd Annual Meeting in Cambridge, MA. This year's convention theme, Transitions, evokes thoughts of change, as well as movement, passages, and journeys. Submissions focusing on the theme of transitions are particularly encouraged but other submissions are welcome. Submissions will be accepted electronically by email with attachment(s) to Rebecca.Chory@mail.wvu.edu. All submissions must be received by Friday, October 14, 2011.
Completed Paper Submissions should be emailed with the following:
1. TWO attached Microsoft Word (.doc or .rtf) files:
- title page with the paper title and the author name (s)* and contact information (affiliation, mailing address, telephone number, email address) and a statement of professional responsibility (see below).
- text of the paper starting with a one-page abstract. All author identifiers should be removed from the text (excluding previous scholarly works cited in the paper and listed in the reference section). The word “Debut” should be marked on papers by authors who have not presented previously at a regional or national convention.
2. The email subject line should include the abbreviation “ECA” and the title of the paper. The email text should include any requests for presentation aids such as overhead projector, TV/DVD player, etc. (see below).
* If the paper is a multi-authored paper, please indicate who will be presenting at the convention.
Panel Proposal Submissions should be emailed and include the following:
1. ONE Microsoft Word (.doc or .rtf) file containing:
- A thematic title for the program
- Names of the chair and respondents, if any. Please do not have chairs act as respondents.
- Names, mailing addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, and institutional affiliations of all participants
- Titles and abstracts for each paper or presentation
- A program copy (NO MORE than a 75-word description) as it should appear in the final program
- A detailed rationale for the program/panel
- A statement of professional responsibility (see below)
2. The email subject line should include the abbreviation “ECA” and the title of the panel. The email text should include any requests for presentation aids such as overhead projector, TV/DVD player, etc. (see below).
Papers and panels not meeting these submission guidelines will not be distributed for review.
Statement of Professional Responsibility
ALL submissions must include (on the second page) a statement of professional responsibility that reads:
“In submitting the attached paper/panel, I/we recognize this submission is a professional responsibility. I/We agree to present this paper/panel if it is accepted and programmed. I/We further recognize that all who attend or present at ECA's annual meeting must register and pay required fees.”
Technology Policy
ECA has a Technology Policy (available in full text at http://www.ecasite.org/pdf/technologypolicy042007.pdf). Please note in particular the section that reads, "ECA will not approve requests for the following technology: personal computers, laser printers, satellite links, teleconference equipment, LCD panels and projectors, video data projects, and digital versatile/video disc equipment."
