Communicating the Possible
April 2 – April 7, 2013
The Adjunct/Temporary Faculty Caucus invites all members of CSCA to submit competitive papers, programs, and interactive panels for the 2013 CSCA Conference in Kansas City, Missouri. Our caucus seeks to provide adjunct/temporary faculty with support, guidance, and training.
Papers/Panels: We welcome submissions from everyone with an interest in shaping the future and capitalizing on the talents of adjunct, part-time, and temporary faculty members. We encourage a wide range of formats and topics, especially those developed based on the convention theme of Communicating the Possible. Specific issues of interest to our group from past years include: resources for new faculty, adjuncts and veteran teachers sharing teaching methods, diversity issues, mentoring issues for new hires or graduate students, orientation of new faculty, vita preparation, networking opportunities or a special program for adjuncts/temporary/part-timers on best practices from Basic Course Directors. Short course submissions on any of these issues are also encouraged. Our caucus urges Department Chairs and Basic Course Directors to encourage and support submissions from their adjunct/part-time faculty members.
Awards: The Adjunct/Temporary Faculty Caucus will present an award to the Outstanding Adjunct/Temporary Faculty Member of the Year.
Guidelines for submission:
- Papers should conform to APA style. They should include a detachable title page that includes the author(s) name(s) and contact information including email addresses. The text should have all author references removed to facilitate a blind review process.
- Panel submissions are limited to 3 pages and require: 1) a title; 2) a list of all panel participants along with contact information for each panelist including name, institutional affiliation, address, phone number, fax number, and email address; 3) an abstract which clearly articulates the purpose of the panel and the responsibilities of the panelists and 4) a request for any special accommodations or media required for the panel.
Proposals will be accepted as attachments (ONLY .doc, .docx, or .pdf formats please) in an e-mail message clearly indicating "Adjunct/Temporary Faculty CSCA submission" in the subject line.
All media requests must be made at the time of submission. Please only request media if it is absolutely essential to your presentation, as media requests will be closely examined before approval. Laptop computers will not be made available for presentations.
Submissions must be received by Friday, October 5, 2012.
Send all submissions electronically to:
