CSCA - 2012 Conference - Submissions Deadline/Updates
CSCA Members: We’re now just two weeks away from the Friday, Sept. 30 submission deadline for our 2012 CSCA annual conference where we’ll be “Connecting in Cleveland.” I wanted to share with you a quick update on convention planning, and encourage you to submit your papers and panel proposals so you’ll be part of the program when we meet next spring, March 28 – April 1. You can find the Call for Participation for each of the association’s 23 Interest Groups and Caucuses at:

While you’ll be hearing much more about the outstanding program and exciting conference activities in the coming weeks and months, I’d like to share just a few of the meeting’s highlights with you:
- On Wednesday, March 28, the meeting will get started with an exciting pre-conference, Connecting to Millennials through Engaged Teaching, that is being planned by CSCA 2nd Vice President Chad Edwards.
- We’re planning a series of “Making Connections” spotlight panels, spread throughout Thursday, Friday and Saturday of the conference, featuring senior scholars whose thinking and scholarship unites multiple areas and approaches to communication research.
- Also spread throughout the conference will be several Short Courses focusing on teaching various communication courses, seeking grant funding, and other areas of program development and assessment.
- Our 2012 Undergraduate Honors Research Conference (UHRC) is being planned by CSCA President Scott Meyers, and undergraduate submissions will be due no later than Jan. 13, 2012. The UHRC call for submissions can be found at: https://associationdatabase.com/aws/CSCA/pt/sp/callforpapers_honorsconf
- We’ll also re-connect with one another at our welcome reception on Thursday evening, we’ll celebrate our members’ many accomplishments at our annual awards and Hall of Fame induction luncheon on Friday, and we’ll continue CSCA traditions of celebrating and connecting during our Second Annual Karaoke & Dance Competition and our Sixth Annual Pup Crawl.
- Finally, we’ll enjoy a very special evening at our President’s Reception to be held at the world-renowned Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.
Clearly, there will be something for everyone when we gather next spring in Cleveland, and I encourage you to be part of the program. If you have questions, suggestions or comments regarding our Cleveland conference, please contact me at CSCA2012@missouri.edu.
See you in Cleveland in 2012!
