BMES Meetings for Students
BMES offers a rich variety of programs and activities for students at the annual meeting, including social and networking opportunities, a special student-focused event, other receptions, and our popular career and professional development programs. Students also have the chance to present their research to their peers and to the profession.

Student Affairs & Student Chapter Development Session
This session intended to provide information in how to charter/renewal a student chapter, and educate participants about its benefits. Officer from awardee chapters will talk about chapter best practice, and how to engage in outreach/mentoring activities among other concerns or topics faced by student chapters. At this session is where the student members exchange ideas, and generate new ones, as well setting goals for the upcoming year.
Student Leadership Session
"Aiming for Excellence: The Hallmark of Leadership"

Aiming for excellence is designed to be an informative and motivational session. Participants will explore the language, philosophy, and critical strategies applicable to excelling as a leader. Participants will be guided through a process that examines leadership in the context of excellence and is framed around achievement visioning, tasking, and guiding individual responsibility. This session explores these key topics:
1. A Framework for Understanding Leadership Principles Establishing.
2. Mind-set for Excelling as a Leader.
3. Meeting the Challenge of Preparing to Lead.
4. The Attributes Audit as a Leadership Tool.
5. Distinguishing Between “Leadership” and “Position-ship.”
6. Taking Charge of One’s Own Leadership Destiny.

Undergraduate Summer Research (REU) Sessions
Abstract Submission for REUs and any other Undergraduate Summer Research opens: July 6, 2012 and the deadline is August 1, 2012
Undergraduate summer research platform/poster sessions are presented throughout the annual meeting, and there will be presentations in several time blocks. The presentations in these sessions are chosen from submissions of undergraduates summer research abstracts which are compiled and included in the annual meeting program book.
