Tom Shen Bio

Tom T. Shen was born inTaiwanand immigrated to theUnited Statesas a teenager.  He was employed as a programmer trainee by Space Utilization Analysis, Incorporated in 1978.  Then he moved to Compata, a small consulting firm that specialized in computer software services to the financial industry in 1980. 

 Mr. Shen utilized the skills and contacts obtained through these early experiences to form Software Dynamics, Incorporated in 1982.  As Chairman, CEO and President, he was responsible for guiding SDI’s technical staff, human resources, and administration. He personally laid out the direction and architecture of SDI’s very successful suite of products.  By 2001, SDI was profitably delivering front office—teller, platform, call center, and CRM value to over 1,200 financial institutions worldwide, from multi-billion multi-nationals to local community banks, generating revenues in excess of $20MM.  A key component of SDI’s success in the marketplace was its ability to construct and maintain long-lasting vendor alliances.  Mr. Shen was instrumental in shepherding SDI’s relationship with companies such as Bisys, Intrieve, ITI, Fidelity, Fiserv, and Miser.  Mr. Shen is also an accomplished speaker and represented the company in many customer contact and industry events.

 In 2001, Mr. Shen sold his West Hills, California company to S1 Corporation (NASDAQ: SONE), a leading global provider to more than 4,000 banks, credit unions, and insurance providers of enterprise software solutions.  He served as General Manager with S1 for 2 years, successfully transitioning and growing S1’s branch business by over 50%.  He retired from S1 in September 2003.

 In his retirement, Mr. Shen graduated Summa Cum Laude from The Master’s College with a Bachelor’s Degree inChristianMinistries(2004). 

 In December 2005, Mr. Shen joined Digital Insight (NASDAQ: DGIN), a foremost Internet banking and payments provider of on-demand services, initially as a consultant, subsequently as an officer in the role of Executive Vice President of Product, Engineering, and Operations.  He oversaw operations that supported over 8MM consumer end-users and over 200K businesses.  He innovatively launched a family of industry-changing on-line services that combined the power of on-line banking with financial management.  In February 2007, Intuit Corporation (NASDAQ: INTU) acquired Digital Insight.  Mr. Shen stayed to ensure the smooth transition of the company and left in November 2007 to focus on board work and high-tech start-ups.

 Today, Mr. Shen leads Malauzai Software, Inc., a start-up focusing on SmartDevice Apps, and serves as board and advisory member of several private companies and organizations, including Banker’s Toolbox, Inc., HEIT, Inc., Mobilization Labs, LLC, and Association for Financial Technology.  He is married and has three adult children.  He is active within his church, theCommunityChristianAllianceChurch, where he contributes in teaching, mentoring, and growth group ministries.  Mr. Shen enjoys participative sports such as basketball and tennis.
