Surgeons Political Action Committee
S-PAC Promotes Members' Views
The Ohio Chapter believes that our Political Action Committee (S-PAC) helps us promote our views as to how we can improve the healthcare environment in Ohio.
The Ohio Chapter has very strong views on several issues:
- We believe that Ohio should have a clear air act making smoking in all public places illegal.
- We believe that we need to move forward in liability reform.
- We believe that insurance companies should pay physicians directly and not the patients, even though they may not be an in network provider.
In addition, we are monitoring expanded scope of practice of physician assistants and changes in mandatory requirements of basic health insurance.
Building Relationships
These are just a few of the issues that face the members of the Ohio Chapter in this legislative session and those sessions to come. Building those ever-important relationships with legislators will allow us to win vital legislative battles. With our own political action committee, the Chapter can focus on issues that impact surgeons and make a difference for our profession.
Achieving our legislative goals is not possible without S-PAC.
